Been years need advise?

You didn't adjust the brakes. On drum brakes, after you get the drum on, you use your brake spoon and turn the star wheel until the shoes hit the drum. Then loosen up the star wheel a few turns. Make sure you press on the brakes to center them when you are close to the drum and still adjusting the shoes.
