2002 Honda Accord EX V6: What are the D4, D3, 2, 1 controls on my shift?

It's an automatic, but the stick has D4, D3, 2, and 1. I've always driven in D4, but what are the other three? When should I use them? I guess my most important question is: Will any of the others make me go faster quicker? >:D
