Is it genuinely possible to lose weight without ever feeling hungry?

Several diets, e.g. Weight Watchers and Slimming World, claim that you should never feel hungry whilst following their plan. I have followed Weight Watchers for a year, but very frequently felt hungry. I just don't see how it is logically possible to lose weight without feeling hungry, because, by definition, in order to lose weight your body needs to be receiving less calories from food than it is using up as energy, and surely hunger is an automatic response to that situation?
